To remain competitive in ultra distance trail running, with an emphasis on winter ultra's requiring planning and preparation for extended outdoor exposure in extreme weather conditions.

Racing Experience:

I have been involved in endurance activities for over twenty-five (25) years as both a participant, race director and specialty run coordinator. As an ultrarunner, I have raced at various distances ranging from 50k to 350 miles.

Other Experience:

Race director for the Laurel Highlands Ultra races in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Also involved in organizing and promoting various fun run events in the Pittsburgh area. These events include the annual New Years 50k, the Mingo Mingle fun run and the 6 Hour Greek Run. Working on a new 50 mile/50k trail run in southwestern PA, which will debut in the spring of 2011.

Athletic Overview:

I began endurance racing in the early eighties after reading one of the first copies of Triathlon magazine while on a fishing trip. When I returned from the trip, I joined the local YMCA and learned to swim so that I could compete in an olympic distance triathlon. After finishing my first triathlon, I gradually moved on to other, longer events. After finishing a fifty mile mountain bike race, I thought it would be easier to run it, rather than pushing my old, heavy, non-suspension mountain bike. In the mid eighties, the technology was no where near what it is today! Now I am hooked, so going back to riding will have to wait until my passion for ultra-running has diminshed.
